At Meticulous NY we offer our clients some of the most relaxing and luxurious waxing available. While the process of using wax to remove hair can be painful at times, and cause clients discomfort – we do whatever we can to provide our clients with a calm, comforting atmosphere that helps to better diffuse whatever pain you might feel as a result of your wax treatment.
HOW DOES WAXING WORK?
Waxing is a common and highly effective form of hair removal, that is performed at the hair’s root. Generally, patients who undergo waxing can expect their hair to be completely gone for anywhere from 4 to weeks. Although, depending on your specific hair growth cycle, you might notice some slight regrowth within 2-3 weeks – but this is rare.
The waxing process is done by spreading a thin layer of tax over the patient’s skin using a cloth or specially designed spreading tool. Once it is layered evenly along the desired treatment area, we then apply a paper strip – pressed firmly into the skin. This, as well as the adhesive nature of the wax causes it all to stick closely to the hair follicle at its root. The strip is then quickly ripped off, against the direction of the hair’s normal growth. We do this parallel to the skin in order to limit any trauma or skin damage. The wax, along with the hair comes off the skin, leaving the patient hair free along the area – it may have to be repeated 2 or 3 different times for those with thicker, more tough hair.

TYPES OF WAX
There are a number of different types of hair waxing that is possible – strip waxing or soft waxing. The most common of which is heated wax – commonly used by people at home as well. The hot wax is easily spread over the skin, and makes the process much faster. In addition, cold wax is far more difficult to spread.
Strip-less Wax – Also known as hard wax – applied in a thick layer, without any cloth or paper wax strip. Once the wax cools, it hardens allowing our staff to remove it without the use of ay cloth or paper strips. This is ideal for patients with more sensitive skin, as it doesn’t stick to the skin as much as the other types of wax. It is also good for those areas where hair is more fine, and doesn’t come off using normal wax. Many enjoy this method as it is far less painful.
